Looks a Little Like Shredded Wheat

Every fall since I've lived here, I've wanted to take a photo of the fallen needles down the street. The random yet ordered pattern fascinates me. Windfall basketry covers the ground beneath the tree. Nothing tangled. The needles in the gutter swirl even without water. My eyes make sense of the hundreds of tiny lines the best they can.

Swallow

In August I took a walk with my 90 year old dad at the Fern Ridge Wildlife Area near Eugene, Oregon. The swallows flitted after unseen flying insects - a beautiful dance in the morning sun. When one of these airborne acrobats stopped and peered at us, I caught a quick photo before he resumed his flight.

One more poppy bloom

After all the rain this week, the poppy blooms, though brilliant, are no longer as fresh looking as last week. Here's one more photo of last week's poppy fully opened and ruffled.

Crumpled Poppy

Later in the day, the poppy still looks a little crumpled, though it's unfurled more than this morning.
